My Great Grandfather (George Smith) settled on Island 62 (now called Smith’s Island) in 1911. My Grandmother (Elinor) summered there until after WW II when she and her husband (James Meredith) bought a large piece of Big Ship Island. With their young family (including my Mom Sally), they enjoyed many summers of sailing, fishing and camping. My earliest memories of Honey Harbour include picking people up at the Boat Works in the days of the Milner family and seeing their distinctive turquoise taxi boats go by. Several years ago my Dad (John) served as a Director at the HHBC and I am proud to volunteer today. In 1992 I bought my membership in the HHBC and today my wife (Jane) and I are pleased to spend time at our cottage with our children who are fifth generation Cognashene residents.
